ENTRY TWENTY THREE: Small Steps

Happy Sunday! I got a bit creative this week with the Christmas Bunting I’ve been working away on - all up it’s taken me about 7 and a half hours so far, over many weeks. I started it when we were in Melbourne and I don’t think I’m far off now. I also managed to make good headway with my last assignments, the final due date is the 10th December. This course work has really made me realise how quickly things slip with Simple Prints - especially on the social media front. I need to work on setting up a better system and pre preparing content for when periods get busier for whatever the reason. I’ve been feeling I’ve been plateauing a bit for a while now, it’s good to recognise and I need to focus on making some changes so that I can step up. I’m not giving up thats for sure and on that note, have a great week ahead!

As always, I welcome any feedback, support or questions you may have. Find me on Instagram @simplestudios__

What I Did:

Monday: Worked on influencer prints

Tuesday: Worked on custom custom order and other orders and influencer print

Wednesday: Emails and custom custom order

Thursday: Drew print orders

Friday: Worked on Christmas products. Need to have ready for printing on Tuesday and sent of customer previews

Saturday: Nothing

Sunday: Video from The Social Sales Girls, Planning the week ahead and Simple Connections

What I Learnt:

I watched video two from ‘The Ecommerce Road Map’ by The Social Sales Girls - It was all about your website. I’ve spent a lot of time with many audits on my website so I didn’t think the session would be valuable, especially with it being a free course. I was presently surprised. Because the course is so Ecommerce specific and her tips are so simple I actually found it really helpful - here are a few of the key things I took from the 13 minute video - it also came with a bunch of resources that go into further detail, specifically about email pop ups and SEO.

  • For your email pop up you want to set it to show up 12 seconds after someone has been on the site

  • For products the images need to be large and clear and with multiple angles - also providing information of everything the customer is likely to need to know in order to purchase

  • Often if customers don’t know how much shipping is likely to cost it can turn them away and is often why you end up with so many abandoned carts. The suggestion is to put your shipping price in a banner at the top of your website across every page

What I Spent:

Costs are all in NZD and are from the week just been. 27 Nov - 03, December, 2023

  • Xero Subscription - $40.55 (Price Increase)

  • Monthly Account Fee - $8.50

Total: $49.05

What I Earned:

  • Custom Illustration Orders - $127.67

Next weeks focus:

  • Influencer outreach

  • Christmas Products

  • Video three of ‘The Ecommerce Roadmap’

Feel like I made small steps towards getting things done this week and it’s motivating so hopefully the motivation keeps building and I feel a bit more on top of things!

With love, Sam
