ENTRY THIRTY SEVEN: Slipping

Eeek, I better not make a habit of this. It’s Monday evening and here I am checking in. I was planning to do an extra update on Q1 even and instead I didn’t do that and I’m late on my usual. Into the update. I had a good week really. I think the most significant thing I did was the Q1 analysis. I had been avoiding it all week as I had no idea where to start with an analysis. I ended up asking chat GPT and wow, I don’t know why I always forget how helpful it is. I literally asked ‘How should I do a Q1 analysis for my custom illustration business Simple Prints’ and then I followed the structure it spat out. It took my quite a few hours and I finished it off today. I’ll share it as a seperate update as it’s quite interesting. Well I think it is. It was great to get some good insights and feel as though I have drawn a line in the sand and can now build on it.

What I Did:

Monday: Nothing really, just a instagram post and customer orders as we flew home from nelson

Tuesday: Not much, sent print previews off to customers

Wednesday: Prepared orders, picked up prints and packed and posted from the car, instagram reel (made last minute), set up digital gift card option

Thursday: Custom illustration orders and a reel (Also prepared last minute)

Friday: Custom orders, emailed off previews, started Q1 analysis

What I Spent:

Costs are all in NZD and are from the week just been. 01 - 07 April, 2024

  • Facebook (Instagram ad trial) - $12

  • Wages - $134.39

  • Tax Hold - $38.77

  • Riegers - $14

  • Profit Hold - $7.75

  • NZ Post - $10.60

Total: $217.51

What I Earned:

Custom Illustrations - $258.45

Next weeks focus:

  • New Product Launch for real

  • Content creation planning

Was a good week really. Staying the course and trusting that it will work out is really key for me, it allows me to not paralyse myself in overwhelm

With love,

Sam
